What I Believe
As our city develops, we need to anticipate how growth will affect traffic, intersections, roads, stormwater systems, parks and public services. Planning ahead allows us to address pressure points early, maintain the infrastructure we already have and avoid more costly problems in the future.
Growth can create real opportunities for Barrie when it is properly planned and responsibly managed. I will support infrastructure planning that keeps pace with growth while continuing to improve the neighbourhoods and services existing residents rely on every day.
Before significant new pressure is added, the City should consider whether roads, intersections, water and wastewater systems, stormwater infrastructure, sidewalks, parks, transportation and other core assets are ready or properly planned. Predictable problems should be addressed before they become larger, more disruptive and more expensive to fix.
